Solar Academy graduation ceremony

The first generation of electricians, trained by Liban Cables/IECD/SDA Solar Academy, graduated on November 24th, 2022. With the presence of representatives from the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Labor and the United Nations, the class composed by 60 trainees, received their diploma.

The event also counted with the participation of Nexans executives; Jean Mouton, Nexans Chairman of the Board of Directors, and Vijay Mahadevan, Executive VP D&U Americas, Middle-East & Africa. Jean Mouton emphasized on the importance of this initiative: giving back to the community by helping create a career path for the graduates, and spreading technical knowledge for a safe solar panel installation.

The Solar Academy was inaugurated in September 2022, in cooperation with the Institut Europeen de Cooperation et de Developpement (IECD) and the Lebanese Center for Energy Conservation (LCEC), as an answer to the demand of professionalism of solar panel installations, due to the booming of the rooftop solar market.

The graduates were trained in the selection, the safety and the installation process, including examples and practice along a 50-hours free course. At the end of it, they took part on an internship that prepared them to take on future projects.

With this initiative, Nexans commitment goes beyond cables, answering to the current market needs while engaging in the support of the community.
